Chantelle's Story
Life
Hey! I graduated from UO with a Biology degree and spent 5 years doing AIDS research. I loved that, it was genuinely fascinating and challenging. Then I got married to a guy that I met volunteering with an anti-violence street patrol in Seattle (think Guardian Angels). Yeah, little ole me!
I had twins in March of 1999 and thus put my research career on hold. Spent almost 2 years being primarily mommy. It was great!
Then my marriage ended, so I moved back to the Portland area to stay with family for a while. Single parenting was a lot of work and putting my life back in order took most of my time.
Now I am a medical student in CA. I am finally in my final year. Woohoo! I am very excited to be working towards my dream job of being a doctor in underserved areas and traveling the world helping kids in need.

on to the twins, I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old son. I also just had a baby girl in November 2008! Five kids so far!

Workplace
After graduating from UO with a Biology degree, I landed a job at the Primate Research Center at OHSU doing AIDS research using monkeys. I worked there for 1.5 years and then moved to Seattle to work at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center doing AIDS research on humans. :-) After two years there, I moved to Children's hospital and worked in a lab doing (you guessed it!) AIDS research on pregnant mothers and their children.
I then took two years off to have my own children and have since worked a variety of odd jobs to make ends meet.
Now, I am living in California to attend Medical School. By our next reunion, I will be 'Dr. Chantelle'!
