Char's Story
Craig and I have been married 18 years. We adopted our son Mical when he was 7 months old. He is now 17 years olds. My daughter Kim (39) married a college classmate, Paul Jordan and moved to England 15 years ago. They have two children; Paige Margaret (4)and William Edward (6). Kim is a buyer for a department store chain in London. She travels a lot unfortunately and hates being away from the kids. Paul is a lawyer and practices in London. Kristy, my youngest daughter (37) works for me and has since she came back from climbing Mt Everest in 2000. She was 1000 feet below the summit when her oxygen failed and she turned back.
She was a school teacher before joining me. My husband, Craig, is a High School teacher. He has taught for 37 years, 31 years in Mount Vernon. I own and run a medical managment company. I have been self employed since 1996. I hope to retire in a couple of years and Kristy will take over the company. My husband loves to teach and will probably continue teaching until he is 65. We live in LaConner on the Skagit Bay. We kayak, hike, bike, ski and just plain love the outdoors and all that is has to offer. I spend a lot of time in my gardens and on the beach when I am not working or busy with my family. Craig and I plan to take up fly fishing this spring. It's on our bucket list of new things to learn and do. We love to travel and do quite a bit of it just because of where our grandchilren live, England. My daughter, Kristy, is very active and still climbs mountains, runs marathons and triathlons. My husband and I have climbed Mt Rainier and Mt Baker with Kristy over the years and climbed many smaller mountains. My daughter, Kristy taught me to rock climb. We spent a Christmas in Joshua Tree. It was great but now I think I am too old, I just enjoy hiking and seeing new places and new sites. Mountain climbing and rock climbing were on my bucket list and they have been done, so it's time to learn something new. I believe the way to stay y...Expand for more
oung is to learn new things and mix it up with new ways to exercise. I like to trail run but find I have slowed way down the last couple of years. My plan was to run a trail race but I don't think it's going to happen. My husband still skis in the bay but I have given that up also, too cold.....when you fall. My kayak is my favorite way to spend time on the water. I love the wild life and what I can see from my kayak and what birds and wildlife I can glide up on before being noticed. My son, Mical kayak's with me sometimes. Mical did a lot of time in the mountains with us when he was young and now just prefers his ipod and computer. I am hopeful that will change when he is older and he will enjoy the mountains and water again. He is into biking and running but not competitively, just enjoys it as a means of exercise.
My sister, Wallene, died 11 years ago from breast cancer. We had her for 7 years after she was diagnosed. She and Gordy have two children; Stacy and Trevor. Stacy is married and has two children and lives in Bothel. Trevor works for Microsoft and travels quite a bit overseas so it's probably good he's not married. My niece, Sydney looks just like Wallene. She's very quiet but a total joy to be around. She tells us that her Grandmother, Wallene talks to her. Wallene died before Stacy was married so she didn't get to meet her grandchildren. When we look at Sydney, we see Wallene. I still miss her......Gordy remarried a wonderful woman named Kay. She has been a great addition to our family and a wonderful grandmother to Stacy's children. We love her dearly. My mother is still alive and still a menace at times. She keeps all of our lives interesting to say the least. My father died a few years after Wallene died, also of cancer. Well enough family history.
I am happy and very content with my life and my family. I am very proud of all of them and what they have accomplished. I look forward to retirement and a new bucket list to work on........
