Charis's Story
Life
Brian and I have 12 children (we have adopted 3 girls and plan on adopting more). We still live in the Boro and love it! Right now we have ten girls and two boys. Kristyn (26) married Dave in 2003. They bought a home in the Boro and gave us our 1st grandson David Allen, Jr., in July 2006. Their 2nd child Daniel Charles arrived in October 2007. Their 3rd child Dalaney Michelle arrived May 2009. Dave and Kristyn are also foster to adopt parents to Sara (18), Celene (4) and Christopher (3). Our son Nick (21) graduated in 2006. He is manager of a pizza hut. Nick and Cassie married in August of 2008. Their children are Briana Marie (17 mths) and Audriana Lee (4 mths) whom I call Gabby. It is neat to have 2 children so far graduate from the same school as Brian and I did. Cassie (17), Alyssa whom we call Izzy (16)Angelica (15), Shay (15), Styline (14), Jacey Helen(14), Kaylee Jo (11), and Melina (10), Jacie Siarra (4) and Elijah James (7 mths)to get through school. We still have more room in our hearts and home for more children if God wants them with us.
Our life revolves around our family. Would not have it any other way. I gave up working in the hospital 11 yrs ago. Started my own business in medical transcription to work out of our home so that I can be with the children 2...Expand for more
4 hrs. That had been a real blessing for 10 yrs. I gave up working to be able to add more children to our home. Plus we are wanting to start a family business in due time.
Our trip to DISNEY in Florida in Feb 2007 to celebrate the adoption of our new daughters was a blast. I think Brian and I were more excited about DISNEY than the children were :) We are planning on returning again in about 3 yrs -- this way we can take the grandchildren with us. (might have a change of plans as we are considering taking all the kids out west instead of Disney along with my cousins family of 8).
We traveled this summer with 20 children (which included our children, grandchildren and old foster children that returned to vacation with us) and 4 adults to Michigan ( which of course was Brian, Kristyn, Dave and myself).
Brian and I were presented with the honor of being Adoptive Parents of the Year 2007. This really has been such a blessing being able to help so many children. We have had 72 children in our home between birth, adoptive, respite care and fostering. (Of course this does not include all the kids friends that hang out here).
