Charis's Story
Hi Everyone,
After high school, I worked for Alyeska Pipeline for a couple of years. It was a great job. Got married when I was 20, then I moved to CA so he could go to college. Lived there for 3 years, then moved to VA where I have been for the last 23 years. I have 4 children, ages 16 to 24. 2 are in college and one left at home that is a sophmore in high school. (3 girls and 1 boy) I also have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We have had various other "critters" over the years since the neighbors know I'm a soft touch and will take in anything that is wounded. I've gone back to work after being a stay at home mom for the last 20 years. During the "stay at home" part, I helped train people at a restaurant and filled in part time, I did auditing from home and and also did babysitting. I also have a small home business.
Since life's circumstances have changed, being able to work for the same boss I had had 20 years before was a huge blessing. I work in a small office with 2 old guys and one other girl. I do probate bonds and help when needed, with the rental properties my boss handles. I am working on getting a certificate in nutritional counseling because that is where my real pa...Expand for more
ssion lies. I want people to be healthy and I enjoy teaching them how. Someday I hope to live in Montana where I own a little over 10 acres of land. I've been up there several summers with my kids working on an Indian reservation with them and the youth group from church. I miss the mountains and snow of AK. (I know, I'm crazy, right?) Summers are hot and humid where I live!! I am definitely a cold weather person.
I'm slowly learning how to get around on a computer.....my boss has been very patient at letting me learn as I go. It has been a lot of fun getting connected to people from back in high school again using Classmates, but since it's on the computer I'm a little slow at seeing what all this site can do.
Life has had a lot of twists and turns, some expected, some not. But it's still the greatest adventure and I'm looking forward to each day as it comes. I hope all those I've known are doing well. This site brings back a lot of happy memories. I always liked high school. Whenever I go into a school, all the sounds and smells remind me of so many good people and fun times thath helped me become who I am today. Thank you to all of you who had a part in my life.
