Charlene's Story

We are now in 2015. I am now at that true senior age of 65. I am loving to travel and being able to see different places and meeting different people. I think my family is not ecstatic about this as they would like to have me home more, but I feel the need to seize the day and do my thing, selfish as that may seem. My 7 grandsons are getting bigger and older and all are very handsome boys. I am happy with my life and look forward to many more adventures. Am planning to get to the reunion in November 2013 hasn't changed an awful lot. I am a year older and the 7 grandsons continue to grow by leaps and bounds. I am excited because I am taking a trip to down under as my friend didn't make it out as she had planned. I am also excited as Lathrop has a brand new charter school (River Islands Technology Academy) and 2 of the 3 grandsons that live with me will be in the first classes starting on August 14, 2013. This is a fantastic opportunity for them as it will be having the most up to date and state of the art learning experiences available to them. Number 3 grandson will be able to start in 2014 as a kindergarten student as he will still be in prescholl this coming fall. His birthday was just too much past the cut off date even though he is doing kindergarten work at the preschool. I am just so proud of them. I continue to live in Lathrop, CA. 2012 was kind of a slow year for me. I had knee replacement surgery on my right knee so was co...Expand for more
nfined to home for a few months. Talk about cabin fever! I really missed my excursion around the country with friends. My 7 grandsons are growing by leaps and bounds. The eldest will turn 8 years old in February, the youngest was 1 this past June. Two of them just turned 3 and 4 consecutively on the 9th and 10th of this month (January). My Australian friend is planing on a trip to California in March and we will hit the road in a hire car (rental). Three or four weeks of touring across the southern states (to visit friends in Texas and New Mexico) then I will be returning to Australia with her for about the same length of time. Then back in time to hit my summer circuit of travels. Can't let the grass grow under my feet...I might accidentally get old. I really enjoy seeing classmates pop in on my profile. There are some I would like to hear from but don't seem to have made it on here yet. Oh, I forgot. I did get crafty for Christmas this year. I canned jars of home made apple butter and other jars of rum flavored apple butter. I also talked the next door neighbor out of parting with some of the pomegranates off his tree so made some awesome pomegranate jelly. Any friends/relatives that received a jar wished that I had canned it in larger jars. I had to make it go around so used half pint jars. Hope 2013 brings what each of you hope for! Always, Charlene Ann Jones aka Ann Lay (for those who knew I was raised by my grandparents)
