Charlene's Story
Life
Two weeks after graduating I started Beauty School. Up until March of this year, that was my career. During that time I married my daughters' father, who I divorced when she was three. She is now 34 years old and has given me two wonderful grandchildren. During my hair career I owned seven salons, not at the same time. I even did Barb Grubb, Martha Schickly and Pam McDaniels hair! I also was an Educator for the Paul Mitchell Hair Care Co. for 14 years. Being an educator gave me the opportunity to get advanced training from the world class experts as well as travel the states working on stage at Hair Shows.
I also have been singing with different acappella groups since 1979. I teach/coach/design choreography for some of the ...Expand for more
groups. These groups have regional competitions. If you win then you go to international competition. I've been to international numerous times. I'm still singing/teaching etc.
In 1982 I married John O'Connor. We have a son, Blaine, who will be 20 this Nov. Johno and I divorced six years ago but are still good friends.
This last March, I closed down my salon, rented my house and moved up to Bothell to live with my Dad. My carpal tunnel got the best of me and my dad went blind about six years ago and he's gotten to the point that he needs help more often, I was driving up every other weekend.
I just started a whole new career in real estate development and love it.
I'm very blessed to have a wealth of good friends. Life is good!
