Charles's Story

Life Howzit?? I finished the last twenty years traveling around the world to many wonderful places with the Army. I made it to through both Gulf wars and spent the last couple of years in Hawaii. I bought a house in Mililani Mauka on Oahu and never seem to get to the beach anymore. I work in downtown Honolulu now, but I'm newly civilian and I'm just trying to get use to life outside of the uniform. You all take it easy and email sometime!! Mahalo Military Wow. I remember my recruiter and my Dad having to convince my Mom to sign the papers as I was only 17, and unable to join without parental consent. My Dad seemed all too willing to get me out the door and my Mom couldn't let go. Matt Wagenknecht and I were already on the plane and...Expand for more
I thought I was home free, but somehow, my mother got through security, boarded the plane and charged down to my seat in row 26 "just to let me know how much she loved me and to say goodbye." I thought I would die from the embarrassment, but I know she just loves me. I commanded Tanks and wrecked one driving it into a crater in Louisiana. I set up PATRIOT missile launchers in Europe, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Texas. I led a Avenger Missile Battery through a year in Iraq as their 1SG, then spent my last bit of time as an Operations NCO setting up "Super Top Secret" RADAR and communication equipment in northern Japan. That was one of the best vacations ever!! I retired from the military in Hawaii and can't see staying anywhere else!!
