Charles's Story
Well if anyone has read the year book for APW Rebels Class of 86 they will see that I wanted to be a professional bodybuilder and own a restaurant. Well, I am here to say that did not happen. What changed it was a couple of things; first I found out how much steroids I would have to pump into my body to become a professional - so that of course was out of the question; then I joined the military.
First I spent 2 years in the Army Reserves in Watertown and Oswego; Then I went with my two cousins; Greg and Jerry and Joined the Active Duty Air Force. I spent 10 years on Active duty from 1987 - 1997. During that time I got married and had two children. In 1997 I got out of active service and joined the Air Force Reserves serving until December 2009 and leaving at the rank of MSgt (E-7); December 8, 2009 I swore into the Navy Reserve as a Supply Corps Officer; Ensign (O-1).
While on active duty I had the opportunity to travel all around the world and found that I have a passion for it. I eventually want a job where I can travel all of the time and continue to see the world.
Some of the places I have been are as follows:
Stationed: Kelly AFB, San Antonio Texas; Clark Air Base, Philippines; Charleston AFB, Charleston South Carolina, Chanute...Expand for more
AFB, Illinois; McGuire AFB, New Jersey.
Deployed: Korea, Japan, Australia, Germany, Norway, Italy, England, Greenland, Spain, Kenya, Egypt, Senegal, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emerites, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Costa Rica, Canada.
Visited: Mexico, Dominican Republic.
After leaving active Air Force I worked for the following companies; Airborne Express; US Government as a GS Employee; Cleveland Clinic; Champion Technologies and URS.
I completed my BSBA in Business, a graduate certificate in Supply Chain Management, a graduate certificate in Leadership and will complete my MBA in International Business in 2011.
I have divorced my first wife and have remarried. My children have graduated and moved on with their lives.
My overall goal is to own a home in Texas (I lived in Texas during my first two years in the Air Force and fell in love with the state; I have always wanted to go back.) and a home in Central or South America or on a Carribean Island. I will probably do everything I can to eventually live outside the U.S.
I also wish to find a position with a company that allows me to travel the world establishing and improving logistics/supply chain operations. Preferrebly with the government.
Currently I live in Midland, Texas.
