Sally's Story
Life
After 37 years in Minnesota, in May of 2001 my husband, Charles and I moved to Port Lavaca, TX (with our 18 dogs in tow!)We are still actively involved in breeding and showing American Eskimo Dogs. As of March 15, 2005, I work at the Port of Victoria as Contracts Officer. Our granddaughter Amanda remains in Minnesota. Our daughter, Jill, is with us in Texas. Our son, Jack, lives in Grapevine, TX. We still own property in Hooks and do get back there a few times a year. A joy in our lives is when dear friends come to visit, so if you find yourself in South Texas, do come by! We have a lovely home we're always happy to share with those who visit. Bring your swimsuits as we have a great pool that's useable April through October (no heater!). Our favorite local restaurants feature the absolutely greatest Mexican food IN THE WORLD and Texas Gulf Coast seafood, especially shrimp. We'll go sit out ...Expand for more
on a patio and enjoy the local scenery while we dine. The historic Spanish missions of Texas are a short drive from us and we give wonderful tours to Goliad to LaBahia and Espirito Santo. Port Aransas and Corpus Christi are also nice day trips and we can promise you lots of fun in the sun! Matagorda State Park is just a short trip down the bay and a wonderful day's outting. Victoria has magnificent Victorian homes, wonderfully historic structures and a history that is deeply rooted in Spanish Mexico. We have come to have a strong appreciation for just how Texas came to be the exciting, vibrant and culturally divergent place it is. The Texas War For Independence was begun and finished within an hours drive of Port Lavaca. San Antonio and The Alamo are also a wonderful day trip. So! Come see us! We'll show you a good time and let you experience the great history that is in the air in South Texas!
