Charles's Story
Life
After leaving Henry's many halls of learning and its fields of play, I pursued goals of excellence and honor at USC, where I studied Broadcast Journalism and met Shelli, who I finally had the good sense to marry in January 1991. After graduation, I worked as a newswriter at KCOP-TV in L.A. After a year, I decided to go to law school at U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall. After wasting five years in private practice at various L.A. law firms named after either a bunch of dead guys or living stiffs with huge egos, I decided to go for the big bucks (ha!) and went to work for the L.A. County District Attorney's Office in August 1994, where I stayed until April, 2002. That's when Governor Gray Davis appointed me to the Los Angeles County Superior Court bench. being a judge is even better! On May 2, 2000 our family doubled in size when Noah Charles and Connor Albert were born. Needless to say, nothing will ever be the same again. Now, I'm just settling into this whole grown-up thing, and concentrating on being a good husband and father -- how scary is that? I also count my blessings for the many friends I've had the good fortune to make and keep during the past 44+ years. Getting older sure has made me appreciate how easy and simple life at PHHS was. 28 years later, I'm still marching along trying to be both brave and bold. All hail to Patrick Henry High School, hail to the green and gold! (BTW, in case you didn't get it, my bio tracks the lyrics to our alma mater. Yes, I do know it by heart, and yes I know that makes me a geek of enormous dimensions. Hey, I wasn't ASB President for nothing! But if you insist on laughing at me, I'll sing it to you at our next reunion!)
