Life After leaving Henry's many halls of learning and its fields of play, I pursued goals of excellence and honor at USC, where I studied Broadcast Journalism and met Shelli, who I finally had the good sense to marry in January 1991. After graduation, I worked as a newswriter at KCOP-TV in L.A. After a year, I decided to go to law school at U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall. After wasting five years in private practice at various L.A. law firms named after either a bunch of dead guys or living stiffs with huge egos, I decided to go for the big bucks (ha!) and went to work for the L.A. County District Attorney's Office in August 1994, where I stayed until April, 2002. That's when Governor Gray Davis appointed me to the Los Angeles County Superior Court bench.
