Charles's Story

After leaving Bladensburg High School, I earned my Bachelors Degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. I continued to work on my Master's Degree while teaching English and journalism at Crossland High School. Crossland was a great place to begin a career, and I often recall my wonderful students. With my degree in hand, Judy and I and our two children moved to Chester, Vermont where I taught English and related subjects from 1971 through 1979. The years at Green Mountain High School brought great satisfaction. We left Vermont for life on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. hool. From there, we moved on to Calvert County, Maryland where I began as a teacher of English and journalism at Calvert High School. Falling from grace, I became a school admistrator serving as vice principal, principal, director of personnel, and executive director. I am now retired and have found the life which I was born to live. There is a long list elsewhere of some of the many activities which fill my life. Life here on the western shore of the Bay is immensely satisfying. There is still time to fondly remember former students and colleagues. I am fortunate enough to have many active friendships with those I have met in my peregrinations from BHS to here.

I just encountered this poster. For a number of years, I've wondered about Natty Bumpo, a group associated with my good friend, the late Jim Ramey. (My complete set of James Fenimore Cooper should be up for auction soon. )B
I was dismayed to learn of the death this week of Blaine Adams, a great teacher and a great man. I can clearly recall the first time we met when I interviewed him for a teaching position with the Calvert County Public Schoo

Who could anticipate that the adjective "precious" would be inadequate? Our three-day old great granddaughter Hazel Judith Tucker was the guest of honor at today's gathering on Heavenly Hill.
