y dissertation work was on the detection and measurement of neutral current neutrinos in the sudbury neutrino observatory. We found that neutrinos coming from the sun were arriving in non-electron flavors. It's kind of like buying a straight black coffee, then walking out to the car and discovering that you're got a skinny raspberry carmel frappacinno with cream. The standard model of physics had to be adjusted to account for our discovery.
