Charles's Story
My career has given me the opportunity to travel and work with some of the best people and companies out there. Working oversees in Peru, Japan and Australia was just the start..... Help opened a restaurant right out of College in New York City, Opportunities in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii, West Virginia, Florida and New Hampshire opened up then Chef opportunities for companies like Disney, Four Seasons Manele Bay and Koele Lodge, Los Angeles Lakers, San Jose Sharks, Oakland A's, W Hollywood Hotel, Omni San Francisco and Halekulani to name a few.
From large corporations to free standing restaurants never thought growing up in Kahalu'u I'd ever be at a point where I can look back and acknowledge the people that I met and experiences that iv'e got through where I can say ..... I never thought I'd be where I am today.
From a kid who was lets just say not the best in school all the way from elementary to graduation of high school (2.8 GPA was solid)....lol... some would say quiet and shy...... some how graduated 2 colleges and Apprenticeship program after that was hard as hell..... still turned out ok......

managers and leads under your supervision along with having 200 to 300 employees is hard. To lead one must be humble, gracious and respectful under fire. The ability to lead by example is so key, because you're only as good as the people you trust and train. Lead by example, and work with conviction, you'll be surprised with what your team can accomplish. Follow the old rule...... treat others as you would like to be treated! this works especially in times of major problem solving... especially if its gotta be done ASAP!
In these crazy times, we should all remember to take care of ourself and families first..... the rest will fall into place. Tough times don't last......... but tough people do! Just remember when times get tough you have family and friends to lean on and always never forget where you came from, you're up bringing and your genuine spirit of Hawaii. My network range from all these places were I was blessed to work and live and still luckily blessed to call them family and friends.
Well that's a small sample of what I been up too since graduation.....1993...... dam has time flown by. Wish everyone the best and to be safe! Great to see everyone that is on platform
