Charles Eddie's Story

...so I left high school for college and plowed on through to medical school and beyond. I lived in Pittsburgh, then Boston, then Chicago, where I've been since 1985. All told, life has been very good to me! I had a difficult few years following the illness and eventual death of my wife of 40 years, Brenda Ross. We married during our third year of med school and found a fairly easy rhythm to raising 3 children while she practiced Pediatrics and I taught Anesthesiology. The last 2 years were filled with all of the ugly complications of malignant hypertension leading to renal failure and peritoneal dialysis. After some time passed, I began dating. This was a ridiculous, embarrassing, funny, and entirely joyful endeavor for a 66 year old. Friends and their friends made suggestions and hosted dinners. Now I’m with a woman I’ve known casually for many years. hree kids who I talk with and see regularly. They read all the right books on birth order and career choices in that the first is a mathematician, the second, a businessman, and the third a musician. These being the only relevant facts I remember from a college career in Sociology The two granddaughters are a joy; they bring out the nine year old in me, and I want to play on all fours. I am in good health, possibly from all those years of running, biking, and weight lifting. I continue to work part-time teaching and providing anesthesia at the University of Illinois. The residents are fun to teach and to be around, and they reliably show me bizarre apps and games for my phone. I have some good memories of Braddock High School, but most of my thoughts of it are a blur. Forty-nine years is way too many years! Tony Cicero tells me there's a reunion in Pgh on September 8th...the Thursday after Labor day. I couldn't possibly miss it. I set up a facebook page at "Braddock Senior High School" if you're able to leave a post. See you in September.
