After leaving high school I tried my hand at college for a few years but partied more than I studied and lost that deferment. Then I enlisted with Dale Richardson on the buddy plan in the Navy. Only problem was he had to leave before I was ready and he went to boot camp in California and I went to Florida. I was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois for electronics training and met my wife to be while on a date with her sister ¿ long story and for another time. I then went to Naples, Italy for two years. While station there and figuring I would most likely not get another chance to see Europe I traveled extensively. I managed to travel to every free country including England in western Europe, 5 countries in northern Africa, East Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. I sampled as much of the country I was in of their food, drink, etc. Some examples of changes that have occurred -- I love escargot and I grew very fond of wine with meals. It was an experience I will never forget. In addition to my travels while in the military I have had the opportunity to travel for work to Japan, China, extensively through Latin and South America, Poland (after freedom there), Moscow and other locations.
