Charles's Story
Life
I'll be married 20 years, tommorrow, March 11. I now have 2 adults nad 2 young adults. My baby will graduate this year in May.I still reside in Gonzales, La. I married in 1989. Separated in summer 1992; reunited in late 1992 and have been married ever since. Left La in 1992 and moved to Maryland. Left Maryland in 1992, moved to Milwaukee until 1996. Mama died and I moved back to La. Been residing in Gonzales, La ever since. It's cool here. I like the quiet atmosphere. My main thing is serving the Lord and raising my kids to be descent young men and woman. I'm 43, still halfway goodlooking, still play a little basketball, and still like to have fun.
School
my biggest crush in high school was oops! I better not go there. Yes I would. The teacher who inspired me the most was my English teacher Mrs. Wayne. The funniest memories of school was when Karen Claiborne and I sung " If this world was mine." The happiest memory I had was the day I slapped Walter Jones and he finally decided that he wasn't going to beat me up. Oh what a relief it was!
The craziest school memory was the day Coach Washington was looking for me to meet with the Mary Holmes University Jr College. Guess where I was. We were in the classroom gambling for pennies.
College
My roomate was the late Antonio Hamilton....Expand for more
He was a great friend. I will never forget the days, his mother and father would come to take us grocery shopping. U college folks knows what food meant to us in college. i had some of the greatest and life changing experiences there. There is "Southern University." There is where I first lost my mind,"focal point on life." I was into the girls and not my studies at the time. However, I really enjoyed my college life. I personally encourage all students to at least get to experience college life. There is nothing like it. However, when it's done, it's done! I really miss the basketball games the most. I had great times with all the Frats for I was friendly with them all. Probably why I didn't pledge, cause I couldn't make up my mind. I felt I was cool enough to be a Kappa; Smart enough to be an Alpha; Had enough dog in me to be a Q; and country cool enough to be a Sigma. However, I loved all these guys and stayed neutral. My two best associates were Phyllis Jones & Gloria Johnson.I can never forget about my cousin, Reginald Groves, buddy Wayne Hootsell, & Kirshvink Tillery who helped me through some hard times. I bid all these people God speed & pray that they be blessed 100 fold. For all of you who reads this, just know if you ever need a friend that will listen, give me a mail or two.
