Charles's Story

I was born at a very young age in Kentucky. Although my ancestry does not reflect it, I am certain that I have gypsy blood in my veins. I joined the army when I was 17. 1968 I married my wife, Renee in Frankfurt, Germany. When I retired from the Army in 1981, we had bought our first house in New Mexico. I finished my MBA there and started to work for the civil service. In 1989 I finally was able to get an assignment in Germany and we lived there until 2000. My next assignment was at the Pentagon where I worked for three years. Yes, I remember 9/11. If it had not been for a contractor's failure to complete his job on time, I would have been sitting right where the plane hit. In early 2003, Renee suggested that I retire. We could buy an RV and hit the road. That is what we did in 2004! We have been on the road throughout North America since then. Read our travel journal.
