Charles's Story
After graduation from Hoover I worked for the Calif. Dept of Forestry(summer 66 and 67) in Woodlake and Visalia as a firefighter. Attended FCC 67 and joined the US Air Force in March 1968. Basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas and upon completion my career field assignment was Security Police. SP tech school training was at Lackland (7 weeks) and Camp Bullis, TX. Graduated and assigned to the 50th SPS Squadron Naha AFB, Okinawa(18 months). Next tour of duty was at Hill AFB, Utah(6 months)/law enforcement and worked at the correctional facility. Then 4 months on Johnston island(Atoll) 800 miles south of Hawaii(security & LE). Last base was Hickam, AFB on Oahu, HI(worked flightline security/ECP(KC-10 alert pad)security alert team member and command post entry control. n Waikiki(born and raised on Oahu). Married her in June of 1973. She worked at Straub med clinic as a medical records tech. I was hired as a federal airfield firefighter on Aril 1, 1974 at Wheeler AFB(worked for the Army/flightline(UH-1's, CH-47 chinooks and cobra helicoters). Moved into a nice apartment complex overlooking Honolulu(managed by her Mom and Dad/retired Navy). We lived there until I got a lateral transfer to McClellan AFB/North Highlands(Nov.1976), now employed by the Air Force and doing both airfield crash rescue and structural facility firefighting. Our daughter was born on Oct. 1978 and we moved into our house in May 1979(Sacramento address close to the community of Antelope. Son born Feb 25, 1982. Daughter and Son are still single and are both working. Son joined the Army reserves(PFC) and is a military policeman/unit is in San Jose. They are both great young adults and doing well. I retired from the Federal fire dept. on Apri 1, 2001
