Charles's Story
Life
Married 50 years, 1 month to Linda Telfair (ESHS class of 59). Linda Passed away 6/1/12 suddenly and totally unexpectedly. We had three children, who gave us 5 delightful grandchildren (3 yrs. to 21yrs). Retired from the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power as an Electrical Engineer after 37 years of service, consulted for the Southern California Public Power Authority for another 4 1/2 years and am now totally retired. I Play golf at least twice a week, and attend a myriad of grandchildren's events from 9 & 11 year old's soccer matches, to High School marching band and enjoy them all. Also looking forward to the new adventures of the 3year-old over the next few years. Have been living in the city of La Palma (in southern California) for over 45 years. Linda did volunteer work at Braille Institute of Orange County for 35 years. She also kept in touch with a group of her ESHS classmates and they got together annually....Expand for more
Some of them were able to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with us in April, 2012. Life was really good to us for those 50 years. I consider myself a very lucky man to have had her as my partner for those years. She was good to me and for me, I'm a better person because of her. I'm still blessed with a great and loving family that are all close, not only in proximity, but more importantly as a family unit. All the kids, grandkids, my sister and a cousin are within a 45 minute drive. We continue to do family things together and grandpa still watches the kids on occasion.
I try to attend our class' annual mini reunions in June and enjoy hearing and conversing with old friends and classmates. Our big 50th in 2010 was really special. Just remember, the future is now, don't let a minute pass you by. Let the ones around you know that you care, find that long lost friend, mend that broken friendship, reach out and touch someone.
