Charles's Story

Charles is from Seattle, Washington. He is married. His schools include Roosevelt High School. He later attended University of Washington (BA English, Speech Communication and Political Science, Politcal Science). He works(ed) at Pence Hathorn Silver. Music Charles likes includes From Classical to Rock. One of Charles's favorite quotes is:""Real generosity toward the future consists in giving all to what is present." -Albert Camus If your position is everywhere, your momentum is Zero. Michael Korda Courage is fear holding on a minute longer. Thomas Fuller "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things! And powerful things at that, when mixed with definiteness of purpose, and burning desire, can be translated into riches." — Napoleon Hil "You are not paid to work hard. In fact, you are not paid for effort at all. You are paid for results. It's not what you do; it's what you get done." — Larry Winget The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you do is who you become. Heraclitus The Dash I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth... and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; the cars....the house...the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile... remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read with your life's actions to rehash... would you be proud of the things they say about how you spend your dash? copyright 1996 Linda Ellis". More about Charles:"I grew up in Seattle, Washington, where my father was a professor of speech, rhetoric, and debate at the University of Washington and my mother was a register nurse at Children’s Orthopedic Hospital. So it was only fitting that I was raised as a “Husky” and then graduated from the same university, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science wit...Expand for more
h minors in English and Speech.   My wife, Linda, and I live in Santa Monica; we have two sons, Joshua and Jason.  Over the years, we have been involved with the community in many ways. I have been involved in the youth sports programs coaching Little League baseball and AYSO soccer; refereeing AYSO soccer; helping with basketball, roller hockey and rowing programs. My wife has also been very active in the local PTSA, co-president of the Santa Monica Marching Band Parents Association, Santa Monica High School’s world renowned orchestra and many classroom teaching programs.  My wife has a family farm in Houlton, Maine where the kids grew up every summer. It was great for the kids and their cousins to be able to experience nature with 130 acres on a gravel road, five acre pond for fishing, canoeing and swimming, woods and open fields to play baseball, ride motorcycles, four-wheelers and skidoos in the winter. Truly a magical place for kids to spend their summers. For 31 years, along with my partners, real estate has been my vocation and a passionate interest of mine. I have lived and worked in the Westside neighborhood of Santa Monica for 38 years. I have specialized in the sale of estate properties on Los Angeles’ coveted Westside – Brentwood, Santa Monica, North of Montana, Pacific Palisades and Malibu. Many of my past clients have become friends. Then never hesitate to pick up the phone and call for advice on future investment opportunities, plans for remodeling, whether they should buy and sell or remodel and stay put. They trust that I will give them the best advice for their personal needs not my own.  I think my clients find my love, enthusiasm and passion for living and working in Santa Monica contagious.  Having been widely recognized as a leader in the community and an expert in the field of real estate development, marketing, and negotiations, I have consistently been honored as one of the top 1% of all agents internationally. Together, we have sold over $3.2 billion in fine Westside homes, apartment buildings, new construction, and condominiums over the last three decades.  Being a teacher at heart, I love being called upon for my advice and assistance in the training and mentoring of both new and experienced associates. In fact, several years ago, I was delighted at the invitation to be a founding faculty member with i-Suceed.com, an Internet real estate training company specializing in the training of real estate professionals via the web.  The Westside offers so many enrichment opportunities from the great beaches, fine dining, bike paths from the Pacific Palisades to Manhattan Beach, hiking in the Santa Mountains to the many and varied cultural events, the Saturday and Sunday Farmer’s Markets— it’s all available, year-round!  It is the only place I know of that you could surf, snow ski and play a round of golf, all in the same day. Los Angeles is truly a great place to call home.".
