Charles's Story
After graduation I enlisted in the army in August 1964. Took basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Attended advance school at Ft. Devens, Mass until May of 1965, I then served 4 years in Southeast Asia as a Signals Intelligence analyst reaching the rank of SSG E6. Returned to States in 1969. Entered college (Liberal Arts) at the Univ. of Minnesota in 1970 under the GI Bill and majored in economics. Worked for LaBelle's Catalog Showrooms for 10 years in management and as a buyer. Re-entered the army in 1981 (thank you President Reagan) as a Warrant Officer stationed in St. Paul, MN, until July 1983 when I was transferred to Ft. Sheridan, IL. Served at Ft. Sheridan until May 1993 and was transferred to Phoenix, AZ. Retired ...Expand for more
from the army there as a Chief Warrant Officer Four and returned to Minneapolis with 26 years of active army service. Worked for the state of Minnesota until 2007 when I retired from state service. Love stamp collecting, microbiology, the law (both case and statutory), astronomy, cosmology, genealogy, European and American history, especially - riding my Harley Davidson. Currently, I serve on the Columbian Heights, MN, Charter and Traffic commissions. I am a member of the American Philatelic Society, Disabled American Veterans Assoc., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Minnesota Historical Society, the Andover (Mass) Historical Society, the North Andover (Mass) Historical Society, and the American MENSA Society (Minneapolis Chapter).
