Charles's Story
Charles was born in Henderson, Kentucky. Charles is retired and is living the Hamburg area of Lexington, Kentucky with his lovely wife Kathy (Ross of Catlettsburg) and their daughter Katy Bennett. Katy is the Assistant Marketing Director for the University of Kentucky. I retired early in 2017 after working 36 years for Marathon Petroleum. I have been able to spent a lot of time with my family since retiring. I was able to spent a lot of time with my son Joey. We attended a Bob Dylan concert, a Tom Petty concert, UK basketball and football games, his annual birthday bash (the Joey Jam) and a wedding he was in in Key West. Tragically he had a brain aneurysm and died on November 30 in 2017. He was loved by many and is greatly missed.
Charles met many wonderful people at schools in Kentucky, Alabama and California while growing up (if you are reading this, then I am sure that you were one of the too-many-to-name wonderful people that I met!). My father's work and adventures took us many different places. Charles' schools include Shandon Jr. High School (Shandon, San Luis Obispo County CA for 7 & 8 grades and 1 week of Freshman year of High School: long story), Cumberland County Elementary School (Burkesville, KY for 5 & 6 grades), Wayland Alexander Elementary S...Expand for more
chool (Hartford, KY for 4 grade) Sheffield High School (Florence-Sheffield, Alabama for most of Freshman year of High School), Verner Elementary School (Tuscaloosa, Alabama for 1 and 2 grades), Owensboro Senior High School (for Soph, Jr and Sr years of High School) and Holt Elementary School (Tuscaloosa, Alabama for 3 grade). Charles later attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale (National Science Foundation Summer Mathematics Program), Kentucky Wesleyan College and the University of Kentucky. Charles obtained a BS with a double major in Mathematics and Physics. Charles also took graduate work in Electrical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Charles retired in April 2017 after 36 years of work at Marathon Petroleum Company after working with many wonderful people in the Company, at other refining companies, at trade associations, at EPA and in multiple administrations (Marathon was named the Forbes Magazine 2016 Best Large Employer in the USA). Charles spent the last 14 years in the Corporate Environmental Support Department leading the company efforts in environmental and climate regulatory/policy response efforts.
Charles's interests include visiting family, attending the University of Kentucky football & basketball games, geneology and writing.
