Charlee's Story
Life
Greetings, folks! Sorry, but a heavy business workload here in the southern Rockies will prevent me from going to LI for our 40th Class of '73 reunion. Since HS I have completed my BA at Columbia, where I completed a triple major in History, Philosophy, and Religion. I was also active in sports, playing on the rugby team and lettering in the lightweight (160 lbs. or less) Football program for 4 years, playing defensive tackle. Additionally, I participated in student government, and was president of my dorm council. After graduation, I decided not to go to grad school. Instead, I wandered the West for a while after college, living in Colorado and CA but residing in the Taos, New Mexico area primarily since 1983. For six years, I managed a large ranch, and was instrumental in introducing an American bison (buffalo) herd to the ranch. I currently own and operate two businesses; one, Sunshine Enterprises, is engaged in Forestry, and I contract with the US Forest Service as an expert tree-faller (chainsaw operator), working most notably on the large fire in 2000 at the Los Alamos National Laboratory here in NM. I also own Mountain & Mesa Construction, and am a General Contractor engaged in light commercial, fine homebuilding, and excavation aspects of building cons...Expand for more
truction, with an additional specialty in rainwater catchment systems and water storage tank sales and installation. In March, 2002, my company received an award for one of out light commercial projects built in Taos. I have been president of a local environmental organization called Amigos Bravos in 1991, and have served as a Taos County Planning Commissioner from 1995 to 2000. I live in a beautiful rural area at 8100 ft. elevation, and have a lovely wife, Susan, and a talented and attractive step-daughter, Katy, who was the valedictorian at Taos High Scool class of 2002 and who graduated from the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology (MIT) in 2006 and is now a nuclear engineer and married in Phoenix, AZ. Susan and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past July 3rd. At the start of November, 3013 I was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA). Too much information? LOL Lots of other items to share with anyone interested. I would be happy to hear from former classmates, so feel free to e-mail me. Don't be shy! Another little note: I have all my hair, it is moderately long, and if you saw me now I would look much as I did in 1973 (except for the silvering hair color and a few character wrinkles!!).
