Charles's Story

Life I am adding to update my Bio to present. When I left the 32nd Sig Bn June 04 it was off to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. I spent 1 year in El Paso, Texas at the Academy. I really had a great time in the desert of Southwestern Texas and New Mexico. Myself, and many buddies did alot of riding(Harleys)all around the surrounding area. A great place to ride with excellent weather. I left El Paso in May of 05 and Iam presently back in Mannhein, Germany. Iam with the 72nd Sig bn and getting ready to put the diamond back on...Hooah Military Well I have experienced alot in the past 18 years. Let me start by saying it has been a great ride. I went to basic at Ft Jackson SC in 1986. Once I graduated basic it was off to Ft Gordon, GA for AIT. I left AIT in Dec 1986 and went to Ft Benning for Jump school. Oh yell what a rush jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. I received my first assignment, Ft Bragg, NC with the 82d AirBorne Division. I stayed with them for 11 straight years. e with the 82d it was an awesome experience. I jumped into combat with 1/75th Rangers into Panama in 1989. What a thrill. I also went to Desert Storm and Desert Shield in 1990/1991. Some of the schools accomplished while in the airborne was the elite Ranger course and the tuff Jumpmaster school. These are the two tuffest schools I have been to in my career. I have been to many other schools I will not mention. Once I left the 82d airborne it was off to Izmir, Turkey. This was a great assignment with Nato. I was a PSG(E-7) in a Signal Company. I will say the country of Turkey is the prettiest to date. Beautiful Beaches! Once I left it was back to Ft Bragg, NC. It was off to the Lion Brigade 35th Signal for 3 years as a PSG and Brigade controller. I finally came down on orders for Darmstadt, Germany. This is were Iam currently serving as a First Sergeant in A CO 32d Signal Battalion. This is by far the greatest challenge and most demanding job I have had in the Military. I would not trade it for nothing. Airborne!
