Charles's Story
after graduating in 1968, i worked at Star Roses in their sales department for 2 1/2 years. In August, I began my long time career as an Emergency Services dispatcher, becoming one of the original eight dispatchers for the Chester County Fire Board in West Chester, PA. I worked for Chester County from 1971 thru 1988. In 1988, I became a Paid Driver/Firefighter for the City of Coatesville Fire Department. s Department of Defense at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. After working at the Navy Yard for three years and facing possible elimenation of my job, I became an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE where I am currently employed. During this time, since 1966, I have also remained a volunteer firefighter for the west Grove Fire Company. My career in the Fire & EMS service has spanned over 45 years, of which
i have been proud to be part of the group of courageous men and ladies who haved service the West Grove/Avondale (Avon Grove) community.
