Charlotte's Story
This year has been kind of a whirl wind! In February, I left my job and started planning a trip for my daughter and myself. I have always wanted to travel and so I studied travel books and made airplanes reservations for my daughter and me to wonder around France and Italy for 3 weeks. We made hotel reservations for the first night and for the last nights. Everything else, in between, we made a decision as we were going..not with a tour because we wanted to see what we wanted to see. I bought train tickets and we spent 4 nights in Paris and then decided from there to go to Marseilles, then we went to Nice, Cannes and Monaco...I LOVE the French Riviera!!!! My photo was from our hotel room in Nice. We were in Cannes one day before the film festival and then we went to Monaco and it was about a week before the Gran Prix, and we got to walk all around the race route. We then took a night train to Pisa and we had to share...Expand for more
our sleeper car with an Italian yacht captain. He had taken some movie star's yacht to Cannes and was taking the train back to Rome. Then we left Pisa and went to Venice and stayed 4 nights. We loved it and especially loved Burano and Murano. After that we went to Rome and saw the Vatican museum, St. Peter's cathedral and SO MUCH MORE!!! I never thought I would have the guts enough to go to some place without definite plans and without knowing the languages, but I loved it and would go again spur of the moment if I had the opportunity. When I came back I was inspired enough to paint some pictures and planned to try to do that for a living and then to move to the coast, but then the economy got so bad I chickened out. But I am not giving up...I will move to the coast and paint for a living someday...and I plan to take my daughter to the Greek Islands when she graduates from nursing school in 2010. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!
