Charlotte's Story
Hello to all of you who have signed my guestbook. I must admit that there are some of you that I don't know or remember
What does a retired, 80 year old lady do to keep busy? I seldom have time to sit and ask, what shall I do now? There is always something to do. We have a large yard which keeps both my husband, Lyle, and I busy. I am the yard manicurist which means I do trimming, deheading and help pull weeds. Lyle does the mowing, planting and pruning. We have a small cherry tree which survived a damaging ice storm two years ago. I have picked and pitted12 cups of cherries in the last three days. Will check tomorrow to see if the near-ripe ones are ready to pick. I have a gadgit which makes pitting less of a chore than if done by hand. Thank goodness! We have enjoyed a pie and some cherry sauce on a Belgian waffle. I may make some freezer jam with the next picking if I can find my recipe. May need to go on line to find one. I am hoping for a rainy day so that I can continue "spring" cleaning. We are also trying to find time to go through our exte...Expand for more
nsive library and choose those books we will give away. This not easily done for it seems as though you are getting rid of a good friend. At the same time, I keep ordering, reading, cataloging and managing the Large Print library at our local Presbyterian Manor. Now that it is June, the summer town band will begin praciticing twice a week. In July, we will perform once a week, sometimes twice, on the lawn of MS&T University for an evening concert. I still play my flute. The fourth week of June, I and our older daughter will travel over to Indiana for a tour of places which are part of our family history, ending in Hammond. I want at least one of our four children to know where these place are. We have plenty of pictures, but I wanted to have her see where great-great aunts, uncles and grandmother lived and also my old neighborhood. Unfortunately, Maywood School is no longer there. That was a shock to me when we were back for the 50th class reunion. As you see, I really do not ponder long on what to do. There is always something else developing which requires some time.
