Life
What a long strange trip it's been.
The seventies almost killed me and the eighties and nineties were challenging too. I do love a good hair-brained idea and a life-threatening adventure. Of course it's a good plan to fly to Oklahoma to the love-of-my-life, violent, heroin-dealer boyfriend. What could happen? Dark alleys, guns, arrest, jails. Are we having fun yet? And that was just 1971. 1973 my astonishing daughter, Genevieve. 9/11/1976 married Jimmy Dybka of war-protester, draft-dodging, Federal prison fame. 1977 my amazing son, Joshua. 1980 first divorce while Jimmy was in prison again. 1984 second marriage left us homeless and pennyless; divorce in 1985. Start working in ernest. Went from managing an optometrist shop to systems analyst in 10 years. Things are getting better until Vodka started kicking my ass and I lost everything, again. 1998 got sober and started learning to live again. It's been an amazing magical time. I am happier than I have ever been.
I haven't updated this in a while (nine years to be exact). I am still living in San Diego in a little studio in Golden Hill. It's quiet and...Expand for more
peaceful and I am very content. I worked almost 12 years in Poway for a little memory company doing international sales until 2 weeks ago. I'm looking for a job right now.
Both of my grown children live in the county and my grandson, who is almost 17, is the most spectacular child ever born. Only one of my siblings, Janet (all are alumni of Orange Glen) lives in California but we do keep in touch and they are all doing well. Ain't Skype a beautiful thing?
Since I am twice divorced, I'm convinced it's a good idea to stay that way. I'm not a particularly good wife, it seems, and I do like being alone. I have a lot of good friends and am often too busy to spend much time thinking about it. I am pretty independent and headstrong and like my own way. But lately I have been experimenting with some male companions. Having big fun. I think I have learned to share.
I spend time with friends, reading, I do a little writing, lots of networking lately and have fallen in love with my laptop. I am 15 years sober (if you knew me, you will understand) and active in recovery. My life is good and filled with light. I hope yours is, too.
