Cherie's Story
Life
Gene Prigmore & I were married in 03/62, he reported for active duty the next day. The first 20 yrs of our lives were governed by the US Navy. We spent several 2-3yr tours of duty in San Diego, & tours in Bremerton, WA; Portsmouth, VA; & Yokohama, Japan, as well as some shorter tours in several other places. During that time our family grew to include 1 girl & 5 boys. In 1981 Navy retirement brought on a career of teaching for Gene in land-locked OKC, Ok.. Marooning my sailor for the next 20 yrs., as he taught basic electronics & physics to jr. & sr. hi-school students, & displaced adults. During this time we raised our younger children in Yukon, OK., our oldest son having joined...Expand for more
the Navy at the same time Gene retired. I was a "stay-at-home" mom until 1980 when I began expanding my educational and cultural experiences. I have worked in nursing homes & doctor's offices; performed hearing exams, worked in hospitals, etc. & finally, in 1987 became a Registered Radiographer/Mammographer. Gene retired from teaching in 2003 & we went back to our earlier Nomadic lifestyle by selling our home and becoming full time RV'ers....AHHHH, What a Life!!! We visit our children & grandchildren in Dothan, AL; Salt Lake City, Ut.; Tulsa, & Yukon,OK; family in Poteau, OK.; Needles, CA.; Golden Valley, AZ. And in between we are sightseeing in this great country!!
