Cheryl's Story
Life
Anyone who remembers me from high school will not be surprised to learn that IÂm still highly involved in the theatre For the last ten years I have lived in the Washington DC area where I am the Founder/Artistic Director of The Metropolitan Ebony Theatre (The MET) a professional company in residency at Prince GeorgeÂs Community College in Largo, Maryland where I am also a professor of theatre. I have written and directed several plays for The Discovery ChildrenÂs Theatre at the Smithsonian Institute. I am a four time winner of The Maryland State Arts Co...Expand for more
uncilÂs Individual Artist Award (solo theatre performance). Some of my favorite roles include: Hecuba (ActCo, directed by Jennifer Nelson), Louise in Seven Guitars (Studio Theatre, directed by Tom Jones), Sophie in Flyin West and Rose in Fences (both with The MET directed by Cheryl Collins). I am also a professional storyteller and enjoy doing voice-over work . I have a B.F.A. (acting, Avila College), and M.F.A. (directing, UMKC). I am single, the mother of one adult son (Stephan). I am very interested in coming back to KC bringing good theatre with me.
