Cheryl's Story

Life I went to college from 1987 to 1989 but decided I wanted to work instead of continuing my education. I guess I am paying for that now. In 2002, I obtained my paralegal certificate and am trying to find a lawyer that will take someone without law office experience. You gotta start somewhere right?? I still live in Northern California. I married my first husband in 1990, with whom I had 2 children, Alexa who is 16 and Zachary who is 15 and I divorced him in 1995. I married my second husband in 1998 and we just celebrated our 10yr wedding anniversary. Both my kids are in high school now, in fact Alexa is in the 11th grade and Zach in 10th. Alexa is now driving and absolute loves it! Alexa is in a Leadership group at school where they are mentors for Freshmen in order to help the Freshmen succeed. Zach is in the Explorer program with the Sheriff's department and absolutely loves that! He is starting to talk about becoming a Sheriff after graduation. I have been in the customer service industry for 16 years, doing a variety of things. From 1989 to 1997 I worked in the Insurance Industry, doing everything from being a Sales Coordinator to an Office Manager. In 1997, I moved into a technical field and spend the next 6 years working as a Technical Analyst for a software company. In 2003, I took some time off and then I switched careers again and in 2005 went to work as a Senior HR Assistant at Paychex Inc. and I truly loved it, until my husband was relocated to Bakers...Expand for more
field, CA, in 2006. My husband was then recruited for employment back in the bay area (Northern California), actually in Monterey, so in June 2008, we moved back up here to Salinas, CA. Not the greatest place to live but more affordable than Monterey or San Jose..... My parents and sister also live here in California, but they live in the Silicon Valley (yes the technology part of Northern California.) My dad purchased his own business about 7 years ago, after working for Hexcel for 33 years. His new business is Liquid Nitrogen and some of his biggest clients are Coke, Pepsi, wineries and obviously hospitals and doctors offices. He is very proud of the business because he has expanded it way beyond what the past owner was able to do or thought could be done. My sister also works for my dad, as it is like a family business, however, because I was married and my step-daughter and husband had to live in a certain county I was unable to join the business. One of my goals for being on this board is to pick up some old friendships and catch up on the past and present. The second is to attend a high school reunion. Even though I didn't graduate with the class of 1986, in Seguin, I knew all of you and all of you are who I consider my "real" classmates! I thought that if I found some folks on here, and was able to contact the people helping with reunion that I might be able to attend. If you know me, please contact me I would love to chat with ya.
