Cheryl's Story
Since our son got married in 2008, we found ourselves "empty-nesters". Marc and I have been enjoying our time together taking motorcycle trips up the coast to Santa Maria for our annual Anniversary celebration, to Prescott, Flagstaff and Sedona Arizona and to Vegas. We also took a wonderful trip to Kauai in 2010, where we relaxed and just enjoyed our favorite island paradise. This July we celebrated our 35th anniversary and our son's 26th birthday. My how the time flies!
I still am one of the "unemployed", since January 2010. It has allowed me to concentrate on spending time with my Mom and my family, as well as to get a few necessary health issues taken care of. I would like to be officially retired, if I could. I would like to find something where I can work from home on a part-time basis...that would be ideal for me. But finding that "ideal" job and, is not easy any more in today's economy and the older I get!
We still live in Rancho Cucamonga in the same house since 1989. We raised our son here since he was four and we love it here. I would love to move back to Glendora, of course, where I have very fond memories of my time at Sandburg, Glendora High and Citrus College. But we have many friends that we have developed through the years here in Rancho and I want to be near my son and daughter-in-law and grand-kids (some day). Our son and his wife just purchased their 1st house and we have been helping them with home-improvement projects. We are so very excited for them, as we watch them make their new house "their's!" We're just waiting for grand babies now......I hope it will be in the nea...Expand for more
r future! I'm anxious!
Since my last post, we have had added two beautiful Granddaughters to our family! I have added a new title to my name...."Grandma!" Our 1st, born May 7, 2012, Madison Marie White was here at last! She has been a joy to watch grow up into the 3 1/2 year old sassy little beauty that she is today! Her 1st couple of years, I was so fortunate to be home to help watch Madison 2 to 3 days a week for her Mommy, while she worked. This is a part of my life I always wanted to happen, I got my girl, at last...even if it was a few days a week and some nights! Then on May 11th 2015, Madison became a Big sister to Elizabeth Lily White and we gained a new granddaughter to love and cherish!! Unfortunately, this time around, I do not get to take care of the girls like I did the 1st time because Mommy was able to become a stay-at-home Mom, something that has made her very happy! I still get them pretty regularly on Fridays now so mommy can get chores done, projects to work on, or completing errands. I will take them whenever I can because they are just a pleasure to have around and SO much fun! The baby, now 5 months old, is THE best baby! She rarely cries, just when she is getting hungry, feeling uncomfortable for a diaper change, or needs a change in scenery! She loves to stand with assistance and has learned pretty much to sit on her own now. She loves to hear her voice and vocalizes it quite often! These two girls keep this Grandma young-at-heart, indeed! Hopefully, there will be one more baby in a few years, probably a try for that boy! I will be happy when that day arrives!
