Cheryl's Story
After graduation I eventually ended up in Colorado in 1978. In June of that year I hired out on the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad as a Car Department Labourer. 59 days later I transferred into Engine Service & became a Holster/Fireman. After 1year I was promoted to Locomotive Engineer. For eight years I held the office of President of BLE-LOCAL 488 as well as the designated Safety Captain for the local working with other crafts as well as management to create a safe environment & work habits for all local employees. At one point I was nominated for Union Pacific Kennifik Award & attended a system wide safety gathering in Omaha. The D&RG R.R. ended up buying the Southern Pacific R.R by means of it's main stockholder..Phillip Anshutz then both Railroads merged with the Union Pacific R.R. Last year I married for my first time to the love of my life and we are currently planning for Retirement which will happen in about seven years. I robbed the cradle by 9 years so I will be ancient when she can retire. OOPS!, did I just out myself; oh well too old to give a hoot. Life is good. While in school I was quite the odd spooky little girl. Always hanging in the cans snorting snuff and smoking whatever I could get my hands on, or getting kicked out for standing up to a crazy teacher ( this only happened once) I called her the (B) word and got two weeks suspension. Little did they know I was very close to the school in the home of some very generous acquaintance's totally toasted the whole time. Well that hurt, lol. Oh and when it comes to religion, well Wiccan all the way baby, it's such an earthy way of looking at things. Blessed Be.
