Cheryl Taylor:

CLASS OF 1977
Roanoke, VA

Cheryl's Story

Life My Spouse My husband was stationed At Nas Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va. with a fellow classmate, Tim Patton. After my mother's death, my best friend, Renea Smallwood (PHS 77)and I traveled to see Tim in Virginia Beach. When we arrived my future husband, David was there. Tim's other roommate wanted to date a college friends of mine, but did not have transportation to Roanoke. David, volunteered to drive him. There was another motive than just giving a shipmate a ride. From that day on David came to Roanoke every weekend that was possible. He said , "The first time I saw you, I knew I was going to marry you. So I set my mind to that goal, and I did not fail." It is always said with a big smile. We have been married 23 years. The day I met David, and the day I marrie...Expand for more
d him, December 9, 1978, were the best days of my life. I thank him everyday for setting that goal and accomplishing it. My Pets Oh, my goodness where do I start. We live on 70 acres in a rural area which becomes the dropping ground for all unwanted animals. My pets are so wonderful. When they are placed upon our doorstep, we have them neutered, give them any medical treatment that is needed. This can become costly, but as my husband says "they are god's creatures, needing comfort and care." Now do you see why I love this man so much. My Job I am a Junior Olympic bowling coach, teaching three classes twice a week at Navarro College. I also teach pee wee, junior and senior bowlers every other Saturday. I had to retire from mainstream teaching due to a stroke in 1987.
