Cheryl Sittle:

CLASS OF 1966
Beltsville, MD

Cheryl's Story

I have been living in Vermont since August of 1999. I am right across the CT River from Hanover, NH (where Dartmouth College is located, so there is an abundance of activity, along with the stunning scenery). I moved from Maryland to Seattle in 1978. Then to Minneapolis, Boulder, Seattle -again- and then back to Minneapolis, before coming to Vermont. The moving around necessitated a continual jump-start of my teaching career! However, the upside was getting to experience so many areas of the country. Though I have yet to travel to Europe (a goal since a 9th grade World History class), I have been able to cover countless miles of 'blue highways' over a very great portion of the Continental U.S. Bed and Breakfast's are my favorite accommodation, though not always utilized, and I am delighted to take my bike when the weather allows. I have had the opportunity to sample many of the bike paths in various states (in the Midwest, especially) that have been created where old railroad beds are located. Can you tell, traveling and exploring new places is one of my favorite things?! Since coming to VT, I have enjoyed checking out many parts of New Engla...Expand for more
nd, however for most Summer vacations, different areas of Maine have been my first choice. Uh...but daily life. I have my finger in a lot of pies...some volunteer, some to keep body and soul together. (Since a serious hit and run car wreck-during 2nd Seattle residency-kind of wiped me out for a good many years, I never got back to teaching full time. The wreck and subsequent experiences were a huge turning point and big, very valuable lessons ensued for which I am very grateful) Back to the pies I was speaking of...some activities utilize my education background, some my love of music, theater and animals. I am always appreciative of the chance to work with children, especially since I did not become a mother, myself...so, no grandchildren. I have regretted not being able to attend any of the reunions since our 10th year. I am hopeful that will change, for I have thought and wondered about many of my classmates. Life has allowed me to have an amazing variety of experiences. I expect that to continue, for each day proves to provide enough surprise and variation to keep me on my (creative) toes. Thank you for checking in on my "story".
