Cheryl's Story

High School!! Yes, I definitely had a good time, maybe not making the right choices, but still had a lot of fun. By the time I was in the middle of my junior year, I saw the error in my ways and decided if I wanted to graduate with everyone else I had better settle down a bit. Well, I did graduate in 1968, barely, and was thrilled that I would never have to go back. The only downside to graduation was friends going their separate ways, and over the years losing touch. The good thing is we have reunions that bring us back together(Thanks Dave!)to enjoy each others company for a little while again. By the way, my family tells me I'm still pretty ornery and always looking at life in a fun way. So, I guess my getting in trouble in high school was just part of my wonderful personality coming out. HA! Well, now for my life since high school. In our year book it asked what our interst was and mine was modeling. I did actually go into modeling for a couple of years, but I only worked in Denver and locally. Modeling was great for my self esteem and I was offered jobs in Chicago and NY but just couldn't bring myself to moving that far away and no guarntees of work beyond short term contracts. I was already working full time at Western Forge, as many in Colorado Springs have done over the years, and did not want to give up the security of a steady income. I worked as a quality control inspector and believe me, when I was done working for the week it was definitely party time. I went through two marriages, before finally getting it right. I married a guy in the Army(Bob), something I never thought I would do, and he made everything seem right. So after 14 years working at the Forge, I became a military wife and moved around the world. I have now been married for 35 years. We have two daughters Breanna and Megan. Both girls are married and live here in Colorado Springs. I have 6 grandchildren, Andy 14, and a set of precious twin granddaughters Aurora and Alexa that are almost 5 years old. Breanna, my oldest daughter also has a second set of twins Aidan and Alexander. The boys are now 3 and will be 4 in June. They are always busy and into everything. My yo...Expand for more
ungest daughter Megan has a boy Anthony and he will be 2 in May. I get the privilege of watching him on Wednesdays and part of the day on Saturdays. I think being a grandparent is the best thing in life. Breanna and Megan are also Wasson alunmni. After traveling around with the military, we moved back to Colorado Springs so the girls could have one high school to go to and make friends without having to pick up and say goodbye every couple of years. So, Bob retired from the Army, and went back to school and graduated from UCCS with a degree in Anthropology. He is now an archaelogist, and I am a licensed Real Estate agent and my expertise lies in Residential Property Management. I take care of peoples investments(homes), and ensure they stay in the best possible condition for future resale value to make them the most money. Here is where I get my plug in, if you or anyone you know needs a professional property manager or is looking to buy or sell real estate, please give them my name and number 719-332-5719. I don't have any plans on retiring, as I enjoy my life and what I do. I am looking forward to watching my grandkids grow up and being ivolved with my kids and their kids lives as much as they will let me. I have to say, LIFE IS GOOD!! 10-1-2017 Here we are 3 years later and wow, life has definitely changed. So much for my thinking Life is Good. I was in for a big surprise. 2 years ago Bob decided after 38 years of being married he wanted to change his life and move on. So, after thinking my life was good, my world was turned upside down and now, I find myself divorced. It’s ok though because with the love and support from my daughters, the love of my grandkids and support of my family and friends, I’m Back!! Hopefully we’ll have some get together reunion time coming up. I probably missed some of it already but hoping this next year we’ll be getting together to celebrate our big 50th reunion. I’m Back and I feel good and looking forward to the rest of my life with my daughters, and my grandkids( I have another grandson now, Conor, he’s 16 months old). I’ve lived, I’ve loved, I’ve lost, and I’ve learned. Through it all I’m happy to be back.
