Cheryl's Story

Life I am currently in the Dallas area, and have been for what seems like forever! I have 2 great kids and a GREAT husband. My daighters are 18 and 19. They are NOTHING like I ever was. Cierra (18) is the spicy one that keeps me on top of life, and Carly (19) is the quiet one that is so much smarter than I ever thought of being. She is in College at Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth. I have one great friend that has lived in this small town of Terrell for as long as I have. Been best friends for 19years. We are starting to foster kiddos. I never thought that I could love another persons children as much as my own, but it is more than possible. Giving these kids a safe and good place to live while their lives are uprotted for whatever reason, is very rewarding. I will keep you posted. Life isnever going to be as you planned. I never would have seen myself doing this, but it is great. I really miss Albuquerque. I think that the culture is something that can never be replaced or duplicated. I really miss the people! I just put my daughter in College last year, and really miss her. I was not ready for the whole college thing, but am getting use to it. I am very excited for her to continue this part of her life. High School here is SO NOT like it was for us. So, she got out early with hard work. Looks like Cierra is on the same track. She graduated early as well. Lord help me! She is not College bound as yet. I am not sure what she is bound for, but we are praying!!!!!!!! Anyway, we live on a farm (I know, not like me) Our house is great, but it is a FARM! My furniture is Victorian-yea, picture that one! But I make it work. I miss living in town. We just moved here 5 years ago, and it is hard for 3 girlie girls at times. So far from town, and no people or stores for 10 miles. But, my husband LOVES it. It is his dream. So, I will go with it for him. If I could pick a place, I would find somewhere that I could get to the ocean (out of hurricane distance) have cooler air year round that I could get out in. It is so hot and muggy here. Maybe we can retire somewhere that I want to be. Lets hope! Looking back, life was good when I was young. I loved HS. College....NOT SO MUCH. What was I thinking??? If Alan had not done most of my math homework, I would still be there! I struggled through, but met some great people. People there will remember me as the one that had this HUGE bag for my stuff, almost knocked people in the head walking down the isle with that bag. They voted me "most likely to trip at graduation"! That is odd since I modeled throughout HS and made my money focusing on "not tripping" on the runway or wherever I was modeling. Oh well. So, I was so nervous when we graduated! But I made. Hated my major and wonder why I did it, but I did. I do love my ...Expand for more
dogs and cats though. Carly and I have a tendancy to drag home more than we should. I then fall in love with them, and here they stay! I have assured my husband that we will just keep driving upon the next little cute kitty. Like he believes that! The vet bills are huge! Lots of people ask me who I would like to see again that I have not see inforever. Well, planning the reunions, I have seen most everyone from HS. I would love to see Julie Martin and Laura Sandison from Bauder. Other than that, I have been blessed to be re-united with many people from my past that I knew and loved. I have such great memories. Riding to Cara's house on my horse, horse shows, Tom and Terry Harwood and Stacey just always being there in my life, Thomas Gentry, Alan CdeBaca, Jason Uher and Alan Eakins keeping me so sheltered that nothing bad ever happened to me. My little yellow VW that I loved. Can you believe that my mom let Alan Eakins and Jason Uher that my car to Colo. for a Stones concert...without me? Geez, looking back, I am shocked! Dea Christiansen, she was so nice. All of the games, and hanging out at McDonalds every Friday and Sat. night. Remember how crowded it was? They would so run kids off now! A lot of people hated that time in life, but it was some of thebest times in my life. Great friends, good memories and lifelong relationships. Oh gosh, remember Cinco De Mayo at Taylor? I have picture of all of us that were there if memory fails you! Jake, Duke, Tom and Terry, me, Starey Carrie and lots of others. OMG! The dresses! WOW. My kids just laugh and laugh! I remember mr. Knight! Gosh he yelled t me and Tom everyday! He loved me, but yelled at me as well. Iknow he passed me because I tried...No was I passed on my own. So many times that make looking back a pleasure. I hope that all of you can look back and fing the good times inyour past. It is sometimes easier to find the bad. Remembering one good thing leads to another and oanother. That is why I plan the reunions. I look back, see the YEARS from grade 1 to 12 and how they changed and my life changed, and I just can't wait to see them again. The reunions are amazing, and I encourage all of you to look that the photo albums on the CHS home page. I remember when we were 12, and we thought that people our age were ancient! Turns out, this is a new chapter in life that makes a person feel as young as you choose to be. I wonder if my kids see me as OLD like I did my parents? HMMMMM I consider myself very lucky in that I have healthy kids and a great family, and trust in God. So many of my friends have met with tragedy and even death in just a short time. It is heartbreaking and yet it makes me seem stronger in my faith and thankful that I have the promise of eternal life! ****Live everyday as if were your last****
