Cherylton's Story

Life I Graduated from Bridgeton senior high school in 1983; from there I joined the Marines Corps. I when to boot camp in December of 1983 at Parris Island south Carolina until March of 1984 then I proceed to camp Delmar California, it was there wear I received my Military occupational school Specialty (3531 Primary MOS) Heavy Vehicle Operator after finishing school I was then sent to main side there at Camp Pendleton California working at the base side motor pool and I remain there for one year, then I was transferred in 1985 to Kaneohe Bay Hawaii there I was assigned to 1/3 for a year then I then move to 2/3 for about six months, then I was reassigned in 1987 to 12th Marines a artillery unit for the next four years while assigned their I went on about 20 deployments after my four years there I was then reassigned to MWSS-171 Iwakuni Japan in 1988 and I would remain there for one years then I was reassigned to CSSD-12 twenty-nine Palms California in 1989 after being their for five months I was then sent to South Asia for a period of 18 months, in those 18 months I participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm after my tour there I when back to 29 Palms and would remain until being reassigned in to Headquarters Battalion Headquarters Marines Corps in 1992 their I would be assigned to escort dignitary both American an Foreign dignitary on ...Expand for more
Capital Hill I would remain their until being reassigned to Marine Corps Base Okinawa Japan in 1997 and I would remain there for a period of two years then being reassigned to Marine Corps Detachment ( MTIC, MTOC) Fort Leonard wood Missouri in 1999 while there I was the Motor Transport Instructor Chief. While be assigned to that billet I was responsible for training over 3,000 Marines those Marines shortly after completing Motor Transport School were sent to Operation Iraq Freedom and Enduring freedom. After my time there I was reassigned to MWSS-172 Okinawa Japan in 2003 I would be there only for two months then I was reassigned to MACG-18 and would remain there for the next two years while being assigned their we participated in the War in afghans and we also support the War in Iraq witch is currently still going on now, after that I was reassigned to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany Georgia in 2005 were I currently serve as the Battalion Operation Chief. I have served my country well and in doing so. I have received over 18 awards and in those awards. I have received two combat actions, a Navy Accommodation Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal and several others awards to go along with these and I will continue to serve until November 10, 2008 that is also the Marine Corps Birthday November 10, 1775.
