Chip's Story

I can remember the great times and parties we had. There was one we had at my house at the last minute. We had 75 show up! My parents were awesome. My dad made lime daiquiris checking with parents first and having those who drank not drive but spend the night. My mom and dad were so cool! It was our Junior year. Principal Hausen was a hoot walking down the halls and calling us by name. I spent much time in his office in trouble of some sort or another but he was always stern but forgiving. However, many detentions. I bet they don’t have smoking areas anymore. Every morning we would meet on the side of the cafeteria outside and smoke (inhaling of course). I enjoyed being in the marching and symphonic band. We had such great fun at band camp and marching in the Memphis Dogwood Festival. I was not the easiest or best of students but did end up on the University of Texas Marching Band! Our band director at North Spring would of been proud of me. I went into the United States Air Force soon after graduation. After getting into much trouble in Atlanta with my cohorts Don Chambers and Hal Nesley, the Judge gave me a choice: jail time or a military career. It was a no brainer what I should do and I had a wonderful time in the military serving for 7 years and honorably discharged. I gave my life to Jesus while I was stationed in Alaska. in Texas in 1981 to help my parents pastor a church there. I met and married in 1982 to my current wife, Diana. Diana and I adopted our first boy and 5 months later, she became pregnant with our 2nd son. Both our sons no longer live at home. Our oldest is still working on his life. Our youngest is an international dog trainer like his mom and married to a veterinarian. They do not have any kids yet but 32 various animals including lizards and a pot bellied pig! My dad, who everyone knew as “Geno.” past away over 10 years ago and several years back I lost my only sibling, Linda to cancer. My mom is now 93 and doing really well. However, she recently had a serious fall and just got out of rehab. I am staying with her until she fully recovers. My wife and I were partnered in a dog training, daycare, and boarding business in Northwest Austin, Texas. However, working together took it’s toll on our relationship. We recently separated and I signed over the business to her and now living in South Austin and starting over again. Here is the website of my new business, Divine Design Canine Training Center. It is a new normal for me, painful at times, but I am grateful to God for His continued presence and direction in my life. I have very loving support from both my boys, my mom Lorraine, and some incredible friend and very excited over my new business!.
