Chris's Story
Got married in '77, first daughter in '81, son in '83, moved to Grapevine in '83 then to L.A. in '86. Had another daughter while in L.A. in '88. After the riots we decided they shoot looters on site in Texas so we moved back to Houston (Cypress) in '92 Barker Cypress and 529. We lived there for 17 years. I was a heavy equipment mechanic and traveled all over the US and parts of Europe.
Just got tired of being in debt and started paying it all off in '07. Wife's mom died and dad all alone in Oklahoma so started making plans to move there. Spring of '08 wife got laid off so she went ahead and moved to Oklahoma to help her dad. I stayed in Houston while she looked for a house. She found one in August of '08 and after hurricane Ike wiped everything out in Houston it...Expand for more
was time for me to say goodbye.
Just did not know just how tired I was of the rat race in the big city until I moved to nowhere Oklahoma. What a change, so much quieter, laid back and easy going. No traffic, no radar patrols on every major street, taxes are a fraction of what they are in Texas, no school taxes, low crime rate, blah blah blah.
I now have 3 grandkids, grandson that's 12 and lives with me, grand daughter that's 4 and another grandson that's 9 mos. We raise chickens and have fresh eggs everyday, two ducks and a donkey. Our pets are two German Shepherds that spend all day with me and go wherever I go. Now I'm simi retired and just do some odd and end work out of my shop here at the house. My wife and I motorcycle ride and fish the local ponds for fun.
