Chris's Story

Where in the world does one start, when so many years have passed? When I left high school I attended Augsburg College for one year, a year that I worked very hard at but did very poorly at. I did not return. My mom brought my baby brother Nick into the world and I stayed home to help. Then I worked for this amazing doctor, an internal specialist, heart specialist on Riverside. So I was still doing the old Augsburg bus transfer! It was there one day, when I was filing, that I fell flat on my face in a grand mal seizure. The dear nurse that I worked with, Helen Penny, literally saved my life that day. I felt bad for the patients after that,'tho, because they would come in for their appointment and go into shock seeing the receptionist with two black eyes!!! Sun glasses did not cut it! So I entered the world of medicines and side effects and tiredness ..... A very different Chris Johnson. At the age of 21 I became a single mom of a beautiful little girl and entered once again a different world. I had been brought up with my mom always at home with me so I knew with every fiber in me that that is what I needed to do also, no matter what the sacrifice. I became a single mom on welfare. The struggle was great, but now that beautiful, beautiful baby girl is now saving lives in the ER in a hospital as a RN and is married (going thru a divorce) with two children. I have been married 25 yrs, we have 5 children, another in heaven, (preborn) and 6 grandchildren. My Catholic faith is extremely important to me. We attend the Cathedral in St. Paul. We live in Blaine, so yes it is a drive, but the holy tradition they keep there is so wonderful and important to us that the drive is as nothing. My older children went to Catholic schools, but when my 3rd child was in sixth grade I started homeschooling. Now m...Expand for more
y youngest is 13 so I will only be doing that for a short while longer. Throughout my adult life I have suffered physically in many ways. I call, or rather called, myself the Heinz 57 girl!I just had so many things going on! Now for almost two years I have been involved in this incredible food science company that has changed all that. I love helping change people's lives like mine has been changed. What is important to me? God, family, helping people get better, friends, I love my country like the Founding Father's did, I hurt to see what it is becoming. I am very pro-life. I pray very hard for the moms that were lied to because I know of their great pain in having abortions. I pray for their healings. I am very proud of so many of our youth- I see such leaders rising up. I also at the same time see so many that are so very lost and need our help. I know that people like my friends that I went to Edison with can help these kids. At first I did not want to join classmates.com but upon the urging of a dear friend I grew up with ,(who, by the way, has indeed been helping youth already for 25-30 yrs!), I did, and it has been such a great gift from God. Talking with friends again that meant so very much to me has made all these years seem as one year only. I have always told my children,"you may be getting older, but I am 18" and I meant it! The trouble is that when I came on this site I found out that Peter Pan DID grow up, yet I still feel like I am 18. I am very excited about the future and what it holds. I think it is going to take strong leaders, and I think we have them coming up, including spiritually. This world does have great poverty in it,once again meaning spiritually. Once that gets figured out, wow! Dear me, I believe I wrote a book. I always did love to write! God bless you Miss Brunzell!
