Chris's Story

Greetings!! Salutations to my classmates in the 'False Memory' society --And warm regards to all of you I actually do remember! (I'll try and get a photog up onto this site so that you you can see of it is really me you remember!) The short of it: time lapsed. Onto college to avoid the draft. Remember the draft?! BA in English, minor in Mandarin. A wandering twenties: west coast couple of years, midwest couple of years, Europe, Africa, parts of Asia, Central America several more years. Then the picket fence, entry to the sales game, the training marriage all here in Roch-cha-cha. Just worked out that way. Then started and built a small retail store. Ran it profitably for nine years until the interregnum of and ugly divorce sundered it, smote its ruin upon the sidewalk. After that, rode the sales horse upon the internet bubble, up and over until the dot in the 'dotcom' popped. Remarried; proved H.L Mencken correct regarding his statement that "A second marriage is the triumph of hope over reason". My current wife, Mary, and I were then totally surprised to find ourselves i...Expand for more
n a family way. We now have a 12 year old son. Who will keep me forever young. Who will be 16 when I am 60. Who... Whew! Then rode the mortgage bubble up and over until it, too, popped. As Palo Alto bumper stickers say: "Please God, one more bubble before I die!" Currently, in sales in the Energy field. (Hopefully NOT another bubble!) Assembling a portfolio of services/sources to rep that will allow me to ride out this Great Recession. And retire by the time I'm...............? If I knew I was going the last this long, I probably would've been more attentive to having an actual career. Select relatives have at times argued I would been better served to curtail the travel and bubble bouncing. I should have, they suggested, focused more squarely on securing a civil service job. Then again, most of them never saw dawn on the Congo River, dusk in the Himalayas, UFO's blinking above trade routes in the deep Sahara. Which brings us up to N-O-W. Which really means I'm looking forward to seeing you all THEN, I hope, at the reunion!! Cheers, Chris Koch 585-750-5655
