EO Member Spotlight Interview with Chris Krause
Please tell us briefly about your company:
National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) matches college coaches with qualified student-athletes through education and technology. We are the monster.com, meets myspace, meets match for high school student-athletes to get recruited.
What do you like best about your business?
Changing lives and empowering student-athletes to achieve their dreams through athletics.
Why did you join EO & how long have you been a member?
I joined EO for continuing education for me as a CEO. I want to be able to keep up with any fresh, cutting edge ideas that will help NCSA meet its 2012 vision of becoming the provider of recruiting education & technology for collegiate athletics.
I have been involved with EO for 3 ½ years now.
How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I went through the process as a student-athlete, and didn¿t have much help, and realized there were a lot of other student-athletes on my team who were good enough to play in college, but did not have the right exposure and guidance to make the connection.
Out of college I started to work with a company and owned a franchise in the recruiting service business, and learned how technology could revolutionize the scouting industry.
What has been the biggest surprise from your business?
The biggest surprise has been the rapid growth and the accelerated goal achievement through mapping out a vision 7 years ago, and holding me and our employees accountable for it. In 2002 I put out a 2012 vision, and by hard work and focus we have been able to stay on track to reach all our goals every year since.
How do you manage to stay ahead of your competition?
By recruiting great people with character onto the NCSA team, investing in those people and technology, and creating a world class culture that believes in the process and are empowered by our achievements as a team.
What frustrates you about your business?
Bureaucracy of growth, and not enough hours in the day.
How many hours do you personally work each week?
50-60
How much money did you have to invest to start your business?
About $4,500.
What are your current annual revenues and number of employees?
Over 10 million in revenue, with over 100 employees.
What is your proudest accomplishment to date in your business?
My proudest moment to date in business is having over 10,000 student-athletes in college and surpassing the 10 million revenue mark, which puts us in a class of less than one half of 1% of all businesses.

Yes, I owned and operated a franchise for 7 years.
