Chris's Story
I'm flattered if you're taking the time to check on my bio and see what I'm doing these days. That's very kind of those of you with whom I had the great privilege of growing up.
After I graduated from Harvey in 1998, I went to Cleveland State for a year before transferring to Lake Erie. I graduated from Lake Erie in 2002 with a BA in Communications.
Since 1999, I've worked in the sports department at The News-Herald. I originally started as a sports clerk and managed to work my way up. Today, I'm a full-time high school sports beat writer and page layout editor. I've also had the opportunity over the years to cover the Browns, Cavaliers (including all four NBA Finals appearances), Indians, Monsters and U.S. men's national team and international soccer matches. High school-wise, my main responsibilities are soccer during the fall, hockey and swimming and diving during the winter and track and field during the spring. We have 34 schools in our coverage area, so it all keeps me pretty busy. You should see my byline pretty consistently in The News-Herald and at News-Herald.com. Me finding a job involving sports is such a shock, isn't it? (lol)
I've had the opportunity to travel abroad three times, going to London in 2002 and making a return trip there in the summer of 2005, as well as going to St. Lucia for my honeymoon in 2007. I still have dreams of going back abroad someday, but until then a week here and there on the road every year will gladly suffice.

irst child, a daughter named Kaley Noelle. She turned 10 in January 2023 and (thankfully) is showing a lot more coordination than her father ever did ... although there's not much of a bar there as you might remember :-)
Life hasn't come without its recent challenges. In 2021, my marriage unfortunately ended. So I moved from Parma Heights, where I had been with my ex and, later, my daughter, for nearly 15 years, As fate would have it, life brought me back to Painesville, as I got a house on my own back home here and have been living for the last two years (as of June 2023).
I'm glad as I type this that we're making efforts to hold a 25th reunion in August, especially given the fact I haven't seen most of you since we all graduated. I went into detail about that on Facebook over the course of a "Throwback Thursday" project digitizing my old video, pictures and other Harvey-era content, but I'll spare you here. The bottom line is my perspective on those days has evolved in a positive way.
To anyone who takes the time to read this, I want to wish you the very best. I sincerely hope you're all getting everything you want out of your lives. It seems surreal more than 25 years have passed since those Harvey days, but who I am as an adult in my personal and professional life has undoubtedly been molded by the shared experience we had. I will always be grateful for that and for you.
If the chance ever presents itself, I look forward to catching up and hearing how you're doing as well. Take care.
