Chris's Story

Life Hey all - my work history does not singularly define who I am, but it's a good place to start... I've had a varied entertainment and hospitality career spanning over thirty years. In the early 1970's as a child-prodigy ragtime pianist and protégé of venerable pianist Max Morath, I led the first ragtime band to appear at the Monterey Jazz Festival. While in high school, the California Band Director’s Association named me the top bass clarinetist for the state of California in 1976 and 1977. The early 1980’s often brought success in print advertisement (Dr. Pepper) and television (Father Murphy; Little House On the Prairie; various television commercials). In the late-1980's, the American College Theater Festival awarded me “Best Actor In a Leading Role – Non-Student” for a role in a production of the three-person drama “Key Exchange”. Man, was THAT a gas! I continued to perform in straight drama and musical theater, and in 1989 co-formed a vocal jazz quartet, Club Vocalese, in San Francisco. Then I began his work in artist management, public relations, marketing and booking in 1995, and has worked frequently with and befriended Julie Wilson, Hadda Brooks, Kim Nalley, Jeff Harnar, Lavay Smith, Spencer Day, Preacher Boy, Anita O'Day, Charles Brown, Little Jimmy Scott, and various ...Expand for more
acts in cabaret, vocal jazz and blues. I did graphic art for numerous Bay Area venues and has re-mastered the audio and created album cover art for several recording artists. My first production as Executive Producer, "Deep In a Dream - the Life and Music of Chet Baker" in September 2002, educated and enthralled audiences at both the Castro Theater in San Francisco and at the prestigious Jazzschool in Berkeley, California. In one month, I was able to book both venues, hire the talent (renowned author James Gavin, Chicago jazz vocalist Spider Saloff, Broadway/cabaret legend Julie Wilson, film/television actor Holt McCallany, etc.), create all facets of the graphic arts, and do a major publicity campaign that included print, radio interviews and performances, and television appearances. I was also involved in the touring production of the program, which appeared most recently at the Green Mill in Chicago and Joe's Pub in New York City (2004). Man, that seems like a lifetime ago! Now I'm the Chief Concierge at San Francisco Suites on Nob Hill and proudly serve on the Executive Board of Directors of the Northern California Concierge Association in the capacity of Community Liaison. In March, 2007, I was nominated for a Hotel Hero Award here in San Francisco - a big deal in my little world.

When Roxie was younger and even MORE beautiful!!
...yet the darned things just can't penetrate frilly lacy underthings.
Well, here's a first ... a gift from a guest (a 10-year-old cartoonist) who even got my lazy right eye correct!
Lazy eye...that eye is so lazy it's collecting unemployment.
Eric found this gem from Fall/Winter 2014…I had forgotten all about it and forgotten that we were ever this young! Sonoma County living seems like a lifetime ago!
