Chris's Story
27 long years later.... Good Lord. Everything is different and yet some things stayed the same.
In high school you may have remembered me as one of those nerdy kids always playing on the computers. Well, your memory is not far off. ;-) I'm currently working downtown as the systems administrator for Christian & Barton, L.L.P. Before that I worked for nearly four years with the network engineering group at the Virginia Retirement System and a three year stint with Chesterfield County Public Schools from '98 to 2001. It's surprising how many of our teachers were still at Monacan (and other schools) while I was under the employ of CCPS, and funny to realize how young they often were when we were there - many much younger than we are now! In 2001 all four of my original math teachers and both computer teachers were still on the faculty at Monacan. I still run into Robbie Crisp on occasion through mutual friends.
As for me, I got married in 1985 and my wife Robin and I have two kids, Kelly and Matthew, who are 23 and 15 respectively. Kelly graduated from VCU in 2010 and Matt is in the Engineering program at L C Bird. Robin and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past November. Yep, silver anniversary already. My brother Rich (Class of 86) and mother live in the county as well. If you saw me today yo...Expand for more
u'd probably recognize me, the main differences being a moustache and much shorter salt-and-pepper hair that's a lot more more salt than pepper in the front. I still have several close friends from Monacan '83-'85, just goes to show what a good group it was. Aside from that it's been a great run since '84, I love married life and have lived in central Chesterfield for the past 22 years. Just part of the next generation in the inner 'burbs. I am an avid golfer and am currently a 7 handicap. I haven't broken par yet, but I've come really close. In 2008 I finally got a hole in one after 23 years of trying. 7 iron, 152 yards. Robin and I joined Meadowbrook Country Club in 2005, and I spend much of my free time there chasing the little white ball.
I started a side business fixing home computers and taking care of IT for small businesses in 2007. Classmates won't let me post my email address, but if you Google "Chris Terrell" I am the first entry. My email address and phone number can be found on that website.
I am on Facebook as well.
Do I miss Monacan and High School at all? No, I'm not one to reminisce and pine for the "good old days", although there were plenty of good (and a few bad) times. I'd much rather be closer to middle-aged and seeing what the second half of life has to offer.
All the best,
Chris
