Chris's Story
I've been back in the Four Corners area for 13 years now. I've been teaching at Aztec High School for 12 years, and currently have the pleasure of teaching World History and Geography. I live in Aztec with my two dogs, but still long to be back in Durango. I really never wanted to leave, but it seems I was one of the first to go. I tried the Army after graduating, but it turns out they didn't want a pacifist like me among them, so my stay at Fort Jackson was very brief. I lived in Montana for about eight years, got soggy in Seattle for three, and dried out in Albuquerque for one. I was married for a brief time, but it now seems like a lifetime ago. gement.
My passions through the years have changed and evolved, and then changed again. I love horses and riding, though I've never been particularly good at it. Ranching would be preferable to teaching. Cows are so much nicer than your typical teenager.
Some of my best days ever were on the San Juan with a fiesty trout on the end of my line, but I've gotten away from flyfishing in the past few years. However, the waters are calling me, and I know I must return.
My greatest escapes these days tend to be in books and the occassional trip to Vegas.
I'm not sure why, but recently I've been thinking a lot about Durango and the people I used to know. It would be nice to reconnect with some of my old friends.
Will there be a 25 year reunion??
