Chris's Story
Life
I have three wonderful kids -- all boys -- by my second marriage. My wife Mary is an office manager for a small company in Newburgh. We started our family late, our first was born in '96 and we had our twins in '98. They keep us young.
I spend a lot of time with the fire department as a structural firefighter and rescue technician. We're a very active department -- route 84 and the Taconic both come through my fire company's area so we're always rolling out to something. I just hope my kids get the bug for it when they get older.
My other hobbies run from camping, fishing and hiking with the boys to reading, music and building computers. Workplace
I spent a short while in Manhattan in the late 70's after college working for IT&T but the city got to be too expensive. I came back north and worked a couple of dead-ends until I got in with IBM. After 16 years (very good years) my division was sold to AT&T. AT&T was no IBM, and well, hell, when I left, IBM was no IBM anymore either.
I left AT&T at the end of 2003 and, after 20 years of data networking operations and management, I went for a total career change. I now have my own business, American Home Inspections, working Dutchess, Putnam and Upper Westchester counties. I love it. There is nothing like working for yourself. I get to spend more time with my kids and my schedule is my own. No more corporate BS trying to convince my employees every year that it's good for them that the company is making the carrot smaller and the stick longer....
