Chris Best:  

Chris is from Great Falls, Montana. His father was in the Air Force and eventually settled at Ellsworth Air Force Base. His parents moved to Rapid City in the fall of his freshman year in 1975. Chris participated in football (1975-1977), basketball (1975-1976), and track (1975-1978). Chris was a four-year letter winner in track and won state titles in the 440-yard dash (1977 and 1978) and the mile relay (1977 and 1978). His senior year, he set the then existing school record in the 440-yard dash (49.7 seconds). He attended Augustana College on a track scholarship and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration. In his freshman year, Chris set the then existing school record for the 400-meter dash (49.0 seconds) and ran on the school record-setting 1600-meter and sprint medley relay teams. He worked 17 years in public accounting in Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, Fargo, and Omaha, before starting his own business valuation firm, Best Business Appraisals, in 1999.
