Chris's Story

Workplace It has been said, "The robb'd who smiles steals something from the thief." Life can be somewhat turbulent and uncertain at times but God is always good. John 16:33 says, "...these things have I spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer...for I have overcome the world...." God has blessed me by allowing me to hold the rank of E-8/SMSgt in the Air Force National Guard as a full-time technician. I have been in for 15 years and expect to make E-9 within the next year, Lord willing. My position is the State Equal Employment Manager. I handle all EEO/EO issues and complaints as well as serving as the District of Columbia National Guard's certified mediator. Ten years prior to holding this position my job was as the Visual Information Manager. This entailed overseeing photo, video, desktop publishing, graphics design, editing and writing articles for the agency. There have been many significant opportunities afforded me through this career, not the least of which were meeting and being photographed with such notables as President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., Secretary of State Colin Powell, et al. Through it all I remain firm in my convictions that if you were to ask any of them today who Chris Martin is they would each give you a speed reply beginning with the word, "Who?" There is but one person that I want to remember my name when asked if He knows ...Expand for more
me when all is said and done. He will say, "Well done my good and faithful servant." Come into the kingdom that was prepared for you from the beginning of time. His name is Jesus. Whether you believe Him to be the Christ or not is not my conversation right now. He allows each of us to make our own choices...for a season. There will come a day when "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." He's only a prayer away. If you don't know Him now, ask Him into your heart and He will dwell with you forever. Some will wonder what this has to do with my work biography. Working for the D.C. Air National Guard is my part-time job, irrespective of how many hours or years I may give to them. Serving my Lord and Master Jesus Christ is my full-time job, my ministry, my life's work. Trusting this has brought you to a place of decision. If you would desire to, please e-mail me and we can talk further. If you have been offended, I offer no apologies but would like to explain that I would rather have your anger for having told you than experience the look in your eyes one day asking the question, "Why! Why, knowing what you knew, didn't you tell me. Me! Your friend." Sound melodramatic. You have no idea how real the scenario will play out almost exactly as described. I wish you God's richest blessings in your life. And I wish you no peace until you have His peace in your life that all may be well with you and yours. In His Service....Chris Martin
